Matt Damon; Love Your Movies, But You're An Idiot

In America, funny, Obama, Sarah Palin on March 10, 2010 at 11:06 am

(By Joanne Galloway)

I’ve had that proverbial “pea under the mattress” with Matt Damon over his characterization of Sarah Palin for some time now.  It may be old news, but I think it’s important when you consider the current influence – and possible 2012 presidential run – of Sarah Palin.

Matt Damon – the *Rosetta Stone* for political knowledge – used his Hollywood influence to gain an interview with CBS news during the 2008 presidential campaigns.   He was quote, horrified, *egads* at the idea of McCain winning office with Sarah Palin left to potentially lead this country after his *imminent* demise.

Focusing solely on Mr. Damon’s fear, let’s analyze a few of his statements from the video snippet.  He refers to Sarah Palin as a:

“Bad Disney Movie”, “Totally absurd”, “really terrifying possibility…[of] this being a reality”, “I don’t know anything about her”, “Governor of Alaska for less than 2 years”

Ouch.  He must have really been scared.  Ok, never fear Matt – I looked into the matter for you – and to keep things simple – we’ll focus on just their public office experience, m’kay?  Good.

  • Palin was a member of the Wasilla, Alaska City Council from 1992 to 1996, and the city’s mayor from 1996 to 2002
  • Palin chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission from 2003 until she resigned in 2004
  • From 2006 -2009, Palin was Governor of Alaska

Ok now we need someone to compare her to.  Ah heck – let’s go for the Head Honcho, the Big Cheese – let’s use Matt’s Hero and Chief, Mr. Obama.

  • Obama served three terms in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004
  • He won election to the U.S. Senate in November 2004.
  • Won the presidency and was sworn in January 2009.

So… let’s do the simple math.

Sarah Palin’s years in elected office – 14-15 years, give or take a few months

Obama’s years in elected office – 13 give or take a few months (as of March 2010).

Hmmm.  I am no math major, but I think Mr. Damon might have been a tad off in his figuring.

If Mr. Obama was okay with Mr. Damon, then what was it again about Sarah Palin he “feared” so much? That she was a “soccer mom”?  I can see how that might put her out of the mainstream.  Ya know,… because there aren’t too many soccer moms out there.  He doesn’t “know anything about her”.  I suppose when you’re reading scripts there isn’t much time to read about anything else, guess we’ll have to forgive him there.  Or we could go into the shamefully wretched coverage the mainstream media gave to Palin.. oh, that’s another long, sad story – so , moving on…..  A “Bad Disney Movie”….well now, to be fair WALL-E did look like he was wearing glasses, but I’m not sure I get his point there.  “Really terrifying possibility” and  “Totally absurd”…

Oh whoops… he must have meant good ole’ Joe on that one.  *raucous laughter*

So, in simple conclusion, I’d have to agree *snort* – Oh yes – THANK GOODNESS we’re safe from Sarah Palin.  The good news is we have our *rock star* backup VP for dealing with the big stuff, ya know, like Vladimir Putin.

Sleep well Matt.  Nothing to fear here.

It's Settled. Obama Is The Best Liar Ever.

In Congress, Government Lies, morality, Obama, US Senate, World News on February 17, 2010 at 9:27 am

It takes a special person to look into the eyes of America and tell a lie as big as the audience to which its told. I can’t say enough about the courage it must take to pull this one off…

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

"F-ing Retarded"; Rahm Emanuel During Strategy Session-Sarah Palin Calls For His Firing

In Congress, Corruption, Integrity, morality, Obama, US Senate, World News on February 2, 2010 at 4:12 pm

Yep, Rahm’s inner-monster popped out to say hello to America again. The bare-knuckle Chicago Politican has reason to be angry:

Time Reports:

48 years old, married to Amy Rule, a woman he met on a blind date. They have three children.

• He studied ballet in high school and was offered a scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet, but went to Sarah Lawrence College instead, where he earned a bachelor’s degree. He has a master’s degree in speech from Northwestern University.

• As a teenager, he severed his right middle finger slicing meat at Arby’s and went swimming in Lake Michigan before getting stitches. After the wound became severly infected, Emanuel had the top of his finger amputated and spent six weeks recovering.

Sarah Palin’s Facebook response via Gateway Pundit:

The newly-released mind-boggling, record-smashing $3,400,000,000,000 federal budget invites plenty of opportunity to debate the merits of incurring more and more debt that will drown the next generation of Americans. Never has it been possible to spend your way out of debt. So… let the debate begin.
