Immigration reform is now poised to take center stage in American politics.  Hastened by the signing of an immigration reform bill, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, along with seventy percent of Arizona’s residents, have lit the fire under what may well prove a wicked brew of partisan politics, racist rhetoric and violent protest.  They made it illegal to be illegal.

It is said that power corrupts, but actually it’s more true that power attracts the corruptible. The sane are usually attracted by other things than power.” ~David Brin

Like any good mystery it takes time to solve the puzzle.  Since Obama’s swearing-in an avalanche of clues have surfaced and a mad frenzy to connect the dots has begun.   The latest ethical “oversight” in the young administration’s life is that of Cathy Zoi and her financial interest in newly recognized green companies.

Does one person’s need constitute another’s obligation to provide?

Really think about that folks. Our Constitution says no, most American’s say no, (see Rasmussen today) but in effect, that’s what our government has done for years by way of taxation. In the case of Obamacare – that obligation will become an all out smorgasbord of benefits stolen from those who have, rendered unto those deemed “in need”, ala the Karl Marx principle “From each according to his means, to each according to his needs”.

You Are Nuts If You Think Obama's Stimulus Plan Isn't Working-It Is!

The DailyKos.com reports: This new video from Organizing for America and the DNC shows in graphic terms how the stimulus bill stopped the job losses of the Bush Recession and helped put our economy back on the road to recovery:

According to a New York Times/CBS poll, here is what Americans think about the stimulus:

The video is reminiscent of the Obama campaign’s use of online video in the 2008 campaign, and it’s the kind of thing OFA and the DNC ought to continue using to help bolster the administration.

It’s also a reminder that policy and politics go hand-in-hand: if the stimulus bill had been weaker, this sort of message would not have been possible, because the economy would still be collapsing. On the other hand, if the stimulus plan had been bolder, instead of saying that the Bush job losses had been stopped, this video could be talking about the Obama expansion.

Bottom-line: these kind of communications tools are important. But the most important thing is getting the right policy. As the White House has no doubt learned with health care reform, the better the policy, the easier it is to communicate.

It sure is a good thing there are groups like the OFA to convince explain to the people how well the progressive movement is going. Who knows, maybe Toyota will come out with a video of their own illustrating how well the brakes work on their recalls.  Propaganda only works if people believe it; kudos for the attempt however.

Obama: 'Take Our Time' On Finalizing Health Care

In Congress, Corruption, Government Lies, Health Care, Integrity, morality, Obama, Socialism, Uncategorized, US Senate, World News on February 6, 2010 at 3:32 am

Much like the stimulus plan, health care must pass now or there is a good chance the world will come to an end. Do you buy it? Does anybody buy it? We’ve all heard the story of the little boy who cried wolf: a little boys cries out ‘wolf’ several times (when there is no wolf) until finally, the wolf appears and the kid gets eaten-or something like that.

(Associate press) via BigGovernment.com reports: WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama says “we should take our time” getting to a final health care bill.

He said Thursday he wants to go through the legislation in detail with Republicans to examine their ideas and Democratic ideas to see whether there are better ways to improve the nation’s health care system than have already been proposed.

Obama said that letting some time pass before calling for a vote also will allow “everybody to get the real facts.”

The president spoke to donors and supporters of his political organization, Organizing for America, one of a handful of fundraisers he was headlining Thursday for Democrats.

Obama said it is most urgent to focus now on a jobs package, but that health care must be addressed afterward.
