It is said that power corrupts, but actually it’s more true that power attracts the corruptible. The sane are usually attracted by other things than power.” ~David Brin

Like any good mystery it takes time to solve the puzzle.  Since Obama’s swearing-in an avalanche of clues have surfaced and a mad frenzy to connect the dots has begun.   The latest ethical “oversight” in the young administration’s life is that of Cathy Zoi and her financial interest in newly recognized green companies.

There is a bill that has cleared the House of Representatives and is now being debated in the Senate.  This bill, sponsored by Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher Dodd, labeled a “Financial Reform Bill” , which according to President Obama, will clear corruption from Wall Street and large insurance firms, investment firms and banking institutions.  Obama’s own words:

Bribes, Ben And Back-Room Politics

In Corruption, Government Lies, Health Care, Integrity, morality on December 31, 2009 at 4:01 pm

Health care reform, such a wonderful idea in theory; extend coverage to millions, improve care, find better doctors [somewhere], full coverage for those with pre-existing conditions, taming evil insurance companies and lower costs for small business all while protecting Medicare. Wow. And the best part of the proposed legislation: it significantly reduces our national deficit. With all the thoughtful amenities Harry Reid and company are unselfishly offering, how could any sane American refuse? Just sayin’.

Now back to reality.  When you hear “Senators are mostly an honest bunch” or “Congress only wants what is best for the American people”, what sorts of things come to mind? Personally, I struggle to refrain from laughing aloud. Now maybe you are one of the few who truly believe members of Congress are an honest and decent collection of patriots (no, seriously). I just can’t seem to get around the pesky facts: Read the rest of this entry »

Prostitution; “Senate Style”

In Corruption, Government Lies, Health Care on December 21, 2009 at 11:10 pm

[Politico Story]

Majority Leader “Dirty” Harry Reid explains to opposing Senators, you snooze, you lose. Reid is using American Tax dollars to bribe this bill across the finish line. For arguments sake, let’s just assume supporters of this bill truly are concerned with providing better health care to Americans; why with such a morally righteous agenda would you ever succumb to private drafting, bribery and deception? You wouldn’t.

Moral selectivity does not exist. One cannot choose when he or she summons morality. One is either moral or they are not. Many politicians would have you believe they care only about what is best for the American people (how many times have we heard that?). The truth is, most politicians care only for appearance. After all, public sentiment is the only real factor in getting re-elected. If only the health care bill were a sting operation, half of our Senators would be arrested for prostitution. What’s your price?

Put up or shut up

After reading ‘What’s Fueling America’s Rage?’, a post by Larry Doyle on ‘Sense on Cents’, I began to wonder not only how we have become a nation defined and recognized by its deceitful and corrupt law makers but how on earth we can recover from it.  Larry talks in his post about how the American people have been on the receiving end of the controlling practices of their public servants for years and it’s only getting worse.  I find it odd that, in most cases, a child will be scolded for lying and a congressman or woman will be re-elected for the same offense.   Who’s to blame here? We need to ensure these ‘cheatsare held accountable for their lies.

Michelle Malkin points out in her recent lead story,  ‘The Demcare bribe list‘ some of the most recent transgressions of the new barnyard health care bill.  If we continue to support (and doing nothing represents support) the nefarious behavior of our unchecked political captains, America’s rage will unquestionably surge.  Imagine for a moment if America’s desire to hold government accountable  matched it’s ever increasing level of rage. Now that’s some ‘change’ I can get behind.

ABC News’ Jonathan Karl reports: On page 432 of the Reid bill, there is a section increasing federal Medicaid subsidies for “certain states recovering from a major disaster.”The section spends two pages defining which “states” would qualify, saying, among other things, that it would be states that “during the preceding 7 fiscal years” have been declared a “major disaster area.”I am told the section applies to exactly one state:  Louisiana, the home of moderate Democrat Mary Landrieu, who has been playing hard to get on the health care bill.In other words, the bill spends two pages describing would could be written with a single world:  Louisiana.  (This may also help explain why the bill is long.)Senator Harry Reid, who drafted the bill, cannot pass it without the support of Louisiana’s Mary Landrieu.

How much does it cost?  According to the Congressional Budget Office: $100 million.

With naked infractions like the ‘Louisiana Purchase’ , conspiracy theorists are beginning to look a little more like clairvoyants. You really can’t script this stuff.

“Dear big Government, we see what you are doing and hey who knows, maybe one of these days we might even try and stop you…”
